Biography

“I enjoy empowering patients, families and colleagues through education about lung cancer.”

Dr. Mileham treats all types of cancer and holds a special interest in lung cancer. She serves as the chief of thoracic medical oncology (cancer) at Atrium Health Levine Cancer Institute - Morehead and is certified in hematology and medical oncology.

She is the chair of the Cancer Research Committee for the American Society of Clinical Oncology and has received several awards including Top Doctor from Charlotte Magazine, Patient Experience Top Care Provider from Atrium Health and Provider of the Quarter at Atrium Health Carolinas Medical Center.

Dr. Mileham’s father is a retired obstetrician and gynecologist (OB/GYN) who showed her that every person you share a room with is the most important person at that moment. She is humbled to work with all types of people affected by lung cancer.

She received her medical degree from the Medical University of South Carolina. She followed that with a fellowship at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

Dr. Mileham uses research to help improve treatment and outcomes for lung cancer patients. For example, she has led grant-funded research that investigates how a person's genes influence how they respond to different treatments, including immunotherapy.

In her free time, Dr. Mileham loves to be outdoors – as long as there are no mosquitoes. She enjoys most sports and playing with her sons and her dog.
