“I had a family member go through cancer treatments, so I have always been passionate about the field of oncology. When I was in school I loved my hematology and oncology studies and rotation, so I decided to pursue a career in the field.”
Kathryn O’Connell is a board-certified physician assistant who specializes in hematology and oncology (cancer and blood disorders).
She received bachelor’s degrees in biochemistry and chemistry at Salem College. She received her master’s degree in physician assistant studies at Wingate University and completed the Atrium Health Center for Advanced Practice Provider (APP) Hematology/Oncology Fellowship.
O’Connell enjoys spending her time off relaxing with her spouse and dog. She and her spouse enjoy watching comedies, baking, going for walks, trying new restaurants and coffee shops and having game nights with their friends.
