Biography

“I enjoy treating people of all ages. I am committed to making my patients more healthy and more confident through my knowledge, my research and my ability to teach my patients and the future generation of doctors.”

Dr. Kayla Taylor is trained in general, cosmetic and procedural dermatology. She has a special interest in treating skin cancers, acne and hair and scalp disorders.

She was drawn to her specialty due to the significant impact dermatologic diseases can have on self-esteem and quality of life. She appreciates the opportunities to have a visible impact on the lives of her patients. As a scientist at heart, she finds satisfaction from the integration of basic science and immunology into her daily practice.

Dr. Taylor is a dermatology thread director and assistant professor at the Charlotte campus of Wake Forest University School of Medicine.

She has received the Women's Dermatologic Society Aesthetic Research Award for pursuit of research in the area of hair restoration.

Her research interests include general and cosmetic dermatology, with a focus on hair loss and scarring alopecia. Dr. Taylor’s work has been published in high-impact dermatology journals for projects related to dermoscopic evaluation of the scalp and its utility in diagnosing hair loss disorders and hair transplantation in patients with scarring hair loss.

Dr. Taylor received her medical degree at Wake Forest University, where she also completed residency in dermatology and was named chief resident.

Away from work, she enjoys spending time with her husband, who was her high school sweetheart, their young daughter and senior dog. The family likes trying new restaurants and visiting museums. Dr. Taylor also likes exercising, trying new baking recipes and making wheel-thrown pottery.
