Biography

Dr. Kaylee Smith is board certified in general surgery. She focuses on colorectal surgery. Her clinical interests include inflammatory bowel disease management, oncologic resections and minimally invasive procedures.

She chose her field for its unique integration of complex surgical techniques, multidisciplinary collaboration and long-term patient care. She especially appreciates making profound and lasting improvements in patients’ functional outcomes and quality of life.

Dr. Smith is an assistant professor in the Department of General Surgery at Wake Forest University School of Medicine.

She received her bachelor’s degree at the University of New Hampshire and her medical degree at the University of South Florida Morsani College of Medicine. Dr. Smith completed residency in general surgery at Atrium Health Carolinas Medical Center, followed by a fellowship in colon and rectal surgery at the University of South Florida.

Away from work, she enjoys gardening, distance running and spending time outdoors with her husband and 2 dogs.
