Biography

I’m a non-operative sports medicine and emergency medicine physician who believes effective care starts with listening to each patient’s goals, understanding how an injury or condition affects their daily life and developing a treatment plan together.

My approach to sports medicine is comprehensive and individualized. Depending on the patient and their condition, I offer a range of treatment options, including diagnostic ultrasound, ultrasound-guided injections, and when appropriate, orthobiologic treatments such as platelet-rich plasma (PRP). My goal is to provide evidence-informed options while making sure patients understand their diagnosis and treatment plan and can safely return to the activities that matter most in their lives.

I completed my fellowship in sports medicine at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee, where I cared for athletes across a wide range of settings, including Vanderbilt University NCAA Division I athletics (SEC), the Nashville Predators (NHL), Nashville SC (MLS), the Nashville Sounds (Triple-A baseball), Special Olympics events, middle and high school athletics, the SEC Men’s Basketball Tournament, and other Nashville-area teams and events.

Before completing my fellowship in sports medicine, I completed my residency in emergency medicine at Harvard Medical School/Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, Massachusetts. I received my medical degree from Carle Illinois College of Medicine at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.

Originally from a small town in North Carolina, I attended Princeton University, where I received my undergraduate degree in engineering. I worked as an engineer before transitioning to medicine, bringing a unique perspective to the intersection of technology, engineering and health care.

I’m also committed to community engagement. My professional interests include operational efficiency, athlete and team care, event medicine and NASA space medicine.

Outside of medicine, I enjoy spending time with family, watching sports, helping friends with budget planning, attending comedy shows, reading, traveling and exploring new cities, and taking long walks.
