Biography

“I feel fulfilled when I’m able to offer advanced surgical treatments to our patients, some of whom were given limited options for their medical conditions and felt helpless. The conditions I treat can have a huge impact on their social, emotional and financial well-being. It feels good to help a patient reclaim her life.”

Benjamin is a board-certified physician assistant specializing in urogynecology. She has a clinical interest in the surgical management of vaginal prolapse, urinary incontinence, fecal incontinence and overactive bladder. She also specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of uterine fibroids, urethral diverticulum (pockets that form on the urethra), gender dysphoria, vaginal mesh complications, fistula and labial hypertrophy (overgrowth).

She has been recognized by Atrium Health Cabarrus with the KEAP award for the development of a pre-operative clearance protocol to reduce the risk of adverse medical events during and after surgery.

Benjamin is a co-author of the study, "Recurrent Paravaginal Abscess: An Unusual Presentation of a Distal Ectopic Ureteral Remnant after Prior Nephrectomy." This paper highlights a technique she created to differentiate a paravaginal abscess from normal bladder tissue during laparoscopic evaluation. It was accepted for an oral presentation at the American Urogynecologic Society conference.

She completed her physician assistant training at the State University of New York (SUNY).

Benjamin is married with 3 children. When not working, she spends most of her time with her family and enjoys reading a good murder mystery. She also excels at bowling.
