Biography

I believe caring for people is so much more than medication or surgery. I find tremendous joy in developing bonds with my patients over the course of their lives, and I enjoy partnering with patients to be healthy and well. I’m grateful to be entrusted with celebrations, secrets and fears. There is no greater miracle than bringing life into this world, and it never gets old!

I am board certified in obstetrics and gynecology (OB/GYN).

My clinical interests include:

  • Polyendocrine metabolic ovarian syndrome (PMOS), formerly known as PCOS
  • Infertility
  • Dysmenorrhea (painful menstrual periods)
  • Menopause
  • Natural childbirth

I am the current chair of the Quality Assurance Committee and the vice chief of the Metro Division in the Atrium Health Carolinas Medical Center Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology.

I have received a Best Doctor award from the North Carolina Business Journal, and I’ve received a Top Doctor award from Charlotte magazine and the Charlotte Business Journal for multiple consecutive years. Additionally, I received the Atrium Health Carolinas Medical Center Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology Resident Teaching Award and the University of North Carolina School of Medicine Outstanding Medical Student/Clerkship Education Award. I’m a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society.

I’m committed to quality, compassionate, evidence-based care for women throughout their lives. It’s my hope to make a lasting difference with my patients and colleagues. I have a strong interest in quality and safety in women’s health care. I have previously worked both in Pakistan and Ethiopia.

I have co-conducted research on fluid management during hysteroscopies and have begun a project assessing fibroid ablation’s impact on quality-of-life indicators.

I received my medical degree at the University of Pennsylvania and completed a residency at Pennsylvania Hospital, the nation’s first hospital.

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my husband and our four children. We love sporting events, traveling and hiking. We also like cooking and baking.
