In-person visits onlyDr. Cruz Avilés is board certified in pediatrics. She specializes in diabetes and endocrinology (glandular conditions) with a focus on pituitary, thyroid, parathyroid and adrenal disorders.
These include hirsutism (excess hair growth), insulin resistance, growth disorders and deficiencies, disorders of puberty, ambiguous genitalia (birth defects of genitals), amenorrhea (absence of menstruation), endocrine neoplasia syndromes (abnormal glandular activity), hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) and abnormalities of vitamin D.
Dr. Cruz Avilés received her medical degree at the Universidad Central del Caribe, Puerto Rico. She completed residency in general surgery at the University of Puerto Rico and a pediatric endocrinology fellowship at Yale University.
In her free time, she enjoys hiking and outdoor activities with her husband, son and family.
