Mahala Rowan Spalsbury, MD

“First and foremost, I aim to understand my patient's narrative. I believe that as women we often normalize our gynecologic concerns, and my goal is to develop a trusting relationship with each of my patients and provide empowerment through education.”

Dr. Mahala Spalsbury is trained in obstetrics and gynecology (OB/GYN). Her clinical interests are in perimenopause, sexual health, dyspareunia (painful sexual intercourse), chronic pelvic pain, heavy menstrual bleeding, abnormal uterine bleeding and dysmenorrhea (painful menstruation). 

Dr. Spalsbury’s hope is that after each appointment, her patients feel they understand more about their own bodies and what they are experiencing and feel comfortable with the therapeutic plan they have developed together. She enjoys working with patients of all ages.

Her passion for patient advocacy is what initially drew her to her field. 

Dr. Spalsbury received her bachelor’s degree in biochemistry at Kent State University and her medical degree at the University of Toledo. She completed residency in OB/GYN at the University of Arizona.

She enjoys spending time with her husband and 2 dogs, playing in the backyard or exploring new places. Dr. Spalsbury is a vegetable gardener, volleyball and tennis player and DIY crafter.
