Biography
“I do my job because patients deserve someone who is genuinely interested in their health and wellness. Providing the best care is always my priority.”
Makeda Tiye Young is a board-certified physician assistant and advanced practice provider (APP) who focuses on acute care surgery and gynecologic oncology.
She is fascinated with the breadth of surgical procedures, especially the hands-on application of medicine and technology. Because Black surgical physician assistants are underrepresented in the profession, Young is passionate about teaching the next generation of providers.
Her research interests include cervical cancer disparities among Black women and other women of color. She is a U.S. Army officer who strives to bring awareness to veterans’ programs and initiatives.
Young completed her physician assistant training at Wake Forest University.
Away from work, she enjoys traveling the world in search of cultural experiences through dance, art and food. She and her significant other love exploring, finding events that tell stories about history and attending any and all sporting events.
