Appleby is a board-certified adult-gerontology acute care nurse practitioner. She specializes in intra-aortic balloon pumps (IAPB), heart catheterization, continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT) and venovenous extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO), which is a temporary mechanical assistance device that allows for prolonged cardiopulmonary support.
She is skilled in invasive line placements, ventilator management, pre- and post-heart transplant management and pulmonary hypertension management.
Appleby found a passion for taking care of the critically ill and their families as a registered nurse, which encouraged her to pursue advanced training in acute care as a nurse practitioner. She finds it very rewarding to care for patients in an acute setting.
She received her master’s degree in nursing at New York University.
Appleby is married and has a daughter. She loves to be active, whether at the gym or outside, going to parks and greenways. She absolutely loves the water and gained her divemaster certification to explore as much of the ocean as she can.
