Meera Mehul Shah, MD

Patient education and communication are the most important tools in providing quality care. I strongly believe that listening to a patient’s and a family’s needs, using shared decision-making and tailoring therapy to each individual, are key factors in making that child's life healthier. It is also wonderful to be a part of such a close-knit, smart and fun physician community, both within our division and around the world.

I’m board certified in pediatrics and pediatric gastroenterology. I specialize in pediatric gastroenterology and hepatology. I enjoy working in a specialty that is always forging ahead and finding ways to further therapeutic interventions for patients.

I have clinical interests in gastrointestinal problems, including:

• Eosinophilic esophagitis
• Celiac disease
• Inflammatory bowel disease
• Acid reflux
• Constipation
• Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS)
• Cyclic vomiting syndrome

My research focuses on inflammatory bowel disease and adolescent transition of care of chronic diseases.

I received my medical degree at Emory University, where I also completed a residency in pediatrics and a fellowship in pediatric gastroenterology.

Outside of work, I enjoy working out, running, traveling with my husband, baking and unwinding with the latest Netflix show.
