Biography

“I believe in holistic care, addressing mind, body and soul. A person’s health is more than physical and is interconnected with their relationships to family and friends. When you care for one patient you care for a community. I want to improve my community one person at a time.”

Melissa Benson is a board-certified adult-gerontology acute care nurse practitioner (AGACNP). Her clinical interests are in internal medicine and cardiovascular medicine.

Her goal is to manage chronic illnesses in the adult and geriatric populations by improving her patients’ quality of life so they may find purpose and fulfillment in their later years.

Benson received her master’s degree in nursing at Vanderbilt University and her post-master’s training at the University of North Carolina.

She is married with 3 sons. Benson is active with the disability inclusion program at her church and with the Joni and Friends North Carolina chapter. She likes hiking and kayaking with her children as well as attending local music events.
