Biography
“Even on your worst days, children can magically put a smile on your face. I enjoy watching children grow and develop over the years. It’s awesome to feel like an extended family member for my patients, their siblings, parents and grandparents.”
Dr. Harrison is a pediatrician who specializes in helping children grow and develop. She holds a special interest in adolescent care, newborn care, breastfeeding and teaching prenatal classes.
Dr. Harrison was interested in medicine at a young age. That interest was solidified when her mother developed breast cancer when Dr. Harrison was in high school. She knew she wanted to help patients maintain their health and to also be there every step of the way at their most vulnerable times. She chose pediatrics because working with children brings her joy, allows her to be a sounding board for parents, and aligns with her goal of helping future generations and the greater community.
She received her medical degree from the Medical University of South Carolina and completed her residency at Children's Hospital of The King's Daughters.
Dr. Harrison has conducted research to better understand African American women’s perception of breastfeeding and serves as a member of Atrium Health’s Human Papillomavirus Collective.
Outside of work, Dr. Harrison enjoys spending time with her husband, friends and bonus children. She also enjoys making new recipes for her family, and curling up under a cozy blanket and watching her favorite TV shows.
