Biography
“I practice medicine because it allows me to serve and use my gifts to their greatest potential. I have the privilege of getting to know my patients, preventing disease, helping cure treatable ailments and attempting to minimize pain and suffering.”
Dr. Johnson is board certified in internal medicine with a specialty in infectious disease.
He has served as chair of medicine at Atrium Health Pineville and was recognized as Atrium Health Physician of the Year. He has also received the Atrium Health Pineville Community Service Award.
Dr. Johnson is the medical director for Bless Back Worldwide, an organization that works in underdeveloped communities to create, implement and support programs that drive sustainable, long-term impact. He has served in this capacity in Haiti and Nicaragua. He is also a board member for the American Leprosy Missions serving those afflicted with leprosy around the world.
Dr. Johnson received his medical degree from Drexel University (formerly Hahnemann University Hospital). He completed both a residency and fellowship at Georgetown University Medical Center.
He is married to an oncologist with Atrium Health Levine Cancer Institute. Together, they have 5 children. He is an elder and active member at Christ Covenant Church. His hobbies include hiking, camping, playing disc golf and participating in anything outdoors.
