Michelle Ann Hoffman, MD

I’ve always loved interacting with children and their caregivers, helping to treat their illnesses, teaching them how to stay healthy and advocating for their needs to help them grow up healthy and strong. All children, no matter their background, have so much potential to grow, learn and make contributions to the world.

I was drawn to the field of pediatric infectious diseases because it gives me opportunities to spend time with patients, listen to their histories and investigate their symptoms, ultimately treating conditions that children usually recover from fully.

I am board certified in pediatrics and pediatric infectious diseases.

Conditions I treat include:

• Bone, joint, skin, soft tissue and congenital infections, such as cytomegalovirus (CMV), syphilis and herpes simplex (HSV)
• Recurrent fevers
• Latent tuberculosis infections
• Immunodeficiencies

Additionally, I provide travel medicine and pre- and post-transplant evaluations.

I am the director of outpatient services for pediatric infectious diseases at Atrium Health.

I value the opportunity to teach patients and their families about how to prevent childhood infections.

I received my bachelor’s degree in biology from the University of Rochester and my medical degree from the University of Chicago. I completed residency in pediatrics at Creighton-Nebraska Universities Health Foundation, where I was chief resident, and a fellowship in pediatric infectious diseases at the University of Nebraska.

Outside of work, I enjoy concerts, theater, hiking, camping, nature and exploring the outdoors with my husband. I consider myself a grown-up kid who still loves all things Disney.
