Biography

“I feel very fortunate to work in the field of medicine. It's a privilege to care for others. Cardiac electrophysiology is the perfect blend of problem solving, procedures and patient care. It's a fun, multifaceted and evolving specialty.”

Dr. Navid Nafissi is board certified in internal medicine and cardiovascular disease. He focuses on clinical cardiac electrophysiology (correction of heart rhythm problems). Conditions he treats include atrial fibrillation and flutter, supraventricular tachycardia, bradycardia, premature ventricular contractions, ventricular tachycardia and sudden cardiac death. He also has clinical expertise in caring for patients with inherited arrhythmias. He provides catheter ablations, pacemakers and implantable cardioverter-defibrillators.

The practice of cardiac electrophysiology appealed to him for its ability to combine the latest technologies with a multidisciplinary team approach to directly improve the lives of patients.

Dr. Nafissi’s research focuses on inherited arrhythmias, ventricular arrhythmias and sudden cardiac death. He has conducted cardiovascular genetics research throughout his medical career as a recipient of a Sarnoff Cardiovascular Research Fellowship and a National Institutes of Health T32 Training Grant.

He received his medical degree at The University of Texas. He completed residency at the University of Virginia, followed by a cardiology fellowship and an electrophysiology fellowship at Duke University.

Outside of work, Dr. Nafissi enjoys spending time with his wife and their dog, Copper. The couple likes hiking, exploring greenways, skiing and trying new restaurants.
