Nicole B. Cyrille-Superville, MD

Dr. Cyrille-Superville is board certified in internal medicine, cardiovascular disease, echocardiography, advanced heart failure and transplant cardiology.

She is the associate director of Heart Failure for the Atrium Health Southern Region. She served as chief cardiology fellow during her cardiovascular fellowship at Montefiore Medical Center and was the recipient of the Dr. Martin B. Cohen Award for Clinical Excellence.

Dr. Cyrille-Superville has clinical interests in heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF), durable mechanical support devices, heart transplants and cardiac amyloidosis (stiff heart syndrome caused by an abnormal protein in the heart tissue).

The dynamic nature of the field is what led Dr. Cyrille-Superville to her career. She feels the field of heart failure has blossomed with exciting developments not only in the pharmaceutical realm but also in the area of mechanical support devices and heart transplant.

Dr. Cyrille-Superville received her medical degree and completed residency at Columbia University. She completed a heart failure and transplant fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital.

She is involved in ongoing research looking into the causes of diastolic heart failure, also known as heart failure preserved ejection fraction. She is a co-investigator for HeartShare, a National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute-funded grant looking at deep phenotyping of patients with heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF).

Dr. Cyrille-Superville is also a co-investigator for MET-PEF, a pilot study funded by a grant from Wake Forest-Atrium Health studying the use of Metformin (an anti-diabetes medicine) to help patients with heart failure preserved ejection.

Outside of work, she enjoys traveling and spending time with her family, including her husband and their daughter.
