Biography
“I truly believe the world changes at home, both in the daily choices we make and in the values we exemplify for our children. As a pediatrician, I see myself as a resource and sounding board for parents making these daily decisions. As a mother, I understand the importance of having a pediatrician as an advocate, and I will use my voice and expertise to help shape policy. It’s a privilege to walk hand-in-hand along the journey of raising those who are vulnerable and precious.”
Dr. Nora Sokol is trained in pediatrics. She focuses on optimizing the growth, development, nutrition, mental and physical wellness of children. She has a special interest in infant and toddler nutrition, school success and behavioral modification, teen wellness and obesity prevention.
As an eldest daughter from a large blended family and as a working mother herself, nurturing and empathy for working families come naturally to her. She appreciates the preventive aspects of pediatric medicine and loves being motivated by the children she sees in her practice.
Dr. Sokol is a member of the Gold Humanism Honor Society.
She received bachelor’s degrees in biology and psychology at Pennsylvania State University and her medical degree at Wake Forest University School of Medicine. Dr. Sokol completed residency in pediatrics at Atrium Health Levine Children’s Hospital.
She enjoys spending her leisure time with her husband, son and their corgis, Toby and Otto. They have fun exploring Charlotte’s dog parks, playgrounds, restaurants, sporting events, concerts and water sports at Lake Norman. In quieter moments, Dr. Sokol likes singing, playing guitar and reading fantasy, dystopian fiction and science fiction books.
