Nyal Ernest Borges, MD

Dr. Borges is board certified in internal medicine, cardiovascular medicine and interventional cardiology. He is skilled in complex coronary artery disease, high risk coronary intervention, chronic total occlusions (CTO), intravascular imaging, structural heart interventions, peripheral intervention and cardiovascular mechanical support devices.

Dr. Borges was drawn to field of cardiology for a variety of reasons. He cherishes the opportunity to partner with patients from all backgrounds and belief systems as they navigate the complex and often daunting task of caring for themselves or loved ones with cardiovascular disease. He believes all patients need an advocate to safeguard their best interests, and he considers it a privilege to serve in this role. Finally, Dr. Borges was intellectually intrigued by the heterogeneity of cardiovascular disease presentations and challenges from a diagnosis and treatment delivery perspective.

He received his medical degree at the University of Kentucky where he graduated valedictorian of his class. He then completed a residency at Vanderbilt University and was selected to serve as chief resident for an additional year. Dr. Borges completed his training at the Cleveland Clinic, where he was selected to serve as chief fellow during his final year by faculty.

Dr. Borges was the recipient of the Patrick Whitlow Excellence Award for overall performance during his training at Cleveland Clinic.

Outside of work, Dr. Borges enjoys spending time with his wife, 2 daughters, 2 dogs and their friends. He is a car enthusiast and enjoys watching soccer, basketball and football.
