Biography

“I am engaged daily in something that the world at large may not consider very important, but because it is a matter of health, connection and peace, it is very important for the women we touch. My life is greater because of small acts of kindness and dignity, and my work is fuller because of the connections I have made with my patients and their families.”

Dr. Cobb is a board-certified obstetrician and gynecologist (OB/GYN) with a focus on underserved populations. She specializes in general obstetrics and gynecology, outpatient prenatal care, contraception, and nonsurgical treatments of common gynecologic disorders.

She is the site-based medical director for obstetrics and gynecology at Atrium Health NorthPark, a facility of Carolinas Medical Center. She’s also the co-chair of the Atrium Health Women's Health Maternal Disparities Committee, whose goal is to narrow the gap in perinatal outcomes for women of color. She is interested in innovative models of care delivery, such as CenteringPregnancy® care and doula labor services. Additionally, she is a Speak UP Against Racism champion through the Institute for Perinatal Quality Improvement.

Dr. Cobb followed in the footsteps of her mother, who was one of the first Black American family doctors in the town where she grew up. Dr. Cobb was inspired by the attention her mother paid to the health of the women she took care of and to their families and communities.

She has won several awards, including the Atrium Health Teal Acorn Innovator of the Year Award and a Center for Faculty Excellence in Community-Based Education Award. She was named a Top Doctor by Charlotte magazine.

Dr. Cobb received her medical degree at the University of Pennsylvania and completed a residency at the University of North Carolina. She is a fellow of The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists.

She and her husband, who is also a physician, enjoy spending time with their 2 children, a son and a daughter. In her spare time, she plays the cello in the Charlotte Civic Orchestra. She and her husband are active in their church leadership and bible study.
