Biography
“I love interacting with and taking care of patients who are suffering.”
Dr. Kelly is board certified in internal, pulmonary and critical care medicine. He specializes in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), asthma, lung cancer, pulmonary fibrosis and pulmonary hypertension. He serves as the medical director at Atrium Health NorthEast Lung Associates. He also serves as the medical director of Respiratory Care and Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehabilitation at Atrium Health Cabarrus.
He has been recognized as Teacher of the Year at Atrium Health Cabarrus Family Medicine and developed an interest in treating patients with lung conditions after working closely with one of his mentors, Dr. Edward Haponik.
Dr. Kelly received his medical degree at Louisiana State University. He then completed his residency and fellowship at Wake Forest University.
Outside of work, he loves spending time with his wife and 3 grandchildren as well as reading, swimming and working on home projects.
