“When someone feels overwhelmed or scared, it helps to have someone there to listen and calmly work to address a situation. I value being this person for patients in the emergency department, and I hope to help people both physically and emotionally in those stressful times.”
Patrick Williford is a board-certified physician assistant who focuses on treating people in emergency settings. He is also an assistant professor in the physician assistant program at Gardner-Webb University.
He was drawn to emergency medicine because it allows him to treat acute conditions and make an immediate impact, then counsel patients on strategies to help more chronic conditions. He believes all human beings are unique, have worth and deserve quality health care to live their lives to the fullest, however they define it. Motivated by his faith, compassion and love for the field of medicine, he strives to always help where he can.
Williford received his master’s degree in physician assistant studies at East Carolina University.
Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his wife and son. Their favorite activities include going to the playground, walking, hiking and doing almost anything outdoors. They love playing musical instruments and reading books. Williford also likes to meet up with friends for golf, escape rooms and board games.
