Biography
"As an athlete myself, I have had my fair share of injuries. I became very familiar with the recovery process, from being evaluated by doctors to working with physical therapists to ultimately returning to the field. I chose this specialty because of the importance sports had on my life and all of the lessons it taught me, and I want to use my experience to help others continue on their athletic and fitness journeys.”
Dr. Henson is board certified in family medicine with a certificate of added qualification in sports medicine. He specializes in non-surgical musculoskeletal conditions, diagnostic and interventional ultrasounds, exercise prescriptions and advanced injections.
Dr. Henson believes fitness and activity are incredibly important to the overall health of his patients, not just physically but mentally and emotionally as well. He feels when patients are injured, barriers often arise beyond the injury itself, and he finds joy in helping patients overcome these barriers, get back to being active and become the best versions of themselves.
He received 2 bachelor’s degrees at Emory & Henry College and his medical degree at the Paul L. Foster School of Medicine. He completed residency at Atrium Health Cabarrus Family Medicine and a fellowship in sports medicine at Atrium Health Carolinas Medical Center.
Outside of work, Dr. Henson loves spending time with his wife and children. He enjoys staying active with diverse exercise routines and playing pickup soccer. His family also loves a good movie night.
