Biography
“I strive to provide comprehensive care for everyone and to continually educate and advocate for my patients so they may achieve their health care goals.”
Dr. Rachel Tang specializes in general obstetrics and gynecology (OB/GYN). Her clinical interests include contraceptive counseling, family planning, abnormal uterine bleeding, general and high-risk obstetrics, cervical dysplasia and gender health. She performs minimally invasive gynecologic surgeries, including laparoscopy, robotic surgery and hysteroscopy.
She values developing meaningful, long-term relationships and chose her specialty because of the connections she can form with patients throughout multiple phases of life.
Her awards include the Outstanding Minimally Invasive Surgery (MIS) Resident Award from the Society of Laparoscopic & Robotic Surgeons, the American Society for Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology (ASCCP) Resident Award and the Richard S. Hansell Leadership and Career Development Award. She was also recognized with a Red Shoes Award for her care and compassion for patients, families and staff at Riley Hospital for Children. In her final year of residency, she was chosen and served as chief scheduling resident.
Dr. Tang received her bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering at Columbia University. She received her degree in osteopathic medicine at Des Moines University and completed residency at Indiana University.
Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her husband, whom she met in medical school. Dr. Tang stays active with running, indoor cycling, hiking and swimming. When time allows, she loves to cook, travel and read.
