Biography
“I love surgery because God has given me many opportunities and abilities. A lot of people need surgical care, and I have the honor to help in a way I find rewarding, challenging and exhilarating.”
Dr. Robert Lim is board certified in general surgery. He focuses on obesity and metabolic conditions, solid organs, hernias and emergency surgeries.
He values working with a team of surgeons who push each other to find ways to perform better and more efficiently.
Dr. Lim is vice chair of education in the Department of Surgery at Atrium Health Carolinas Medical Center. He has been the recipient of a Gold Foundation Humanism Award.
During his military career, he received a Legion of Merit award, Bronze Star Medal, Combat Action Badge, Combat Medical Badge, SAGES Distinguished Service Award and Order of Military Medical Merit award.
Dr. Lim completed his undergraduate studies at Davidson College and received his medical degree at New York Medical College. He completed residency at William Beaumont Army Medical Center and a fellowship in minimally-invasive surgery at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, affiliated with Harvard Medical School.
He enjoys spending his free time with his wife and 4 children. He loves music and art and stays active with golf, tennis and yoga. Dr. Lim has a passion for performing humanitarian surgeries in places that are less resourced, in conflict or have experienced a natural disaster.
