“It’s a privilege to participate in the journey that patients travel with cancer. I get to work closely with patients and families when they most need help. I cannot imagine a more rewarding field.”

Dr. Chai specializes in treating gastrointestinal cancer and breast cancer. He serves as the director of medical operations at Levine Cancer Institute - Morehead and president of the medical staff for both Atrium Health Carolinas Medical Center and Mercy Hospitals. He is board certified in hematology and oncology (cancer).

Dr. Chai was drawn to medicine because he wanted to help people. He focused on oncology because he believes that working with people who have cancer allows him to see the best of what makes us human.

He received his medical degree from Augusta University. He followed that training with a residency and fellowship at the University of Virginia.

In his free time, Dr. Chai loves to spend time with his family and participate in outdoor sports.
