Biography
“A career in orthopedic surgery with a focus on adult reconstruction is the perfect culmination of my former experiences and future aspirations. I enjoy the ingenuity required and the satisfaction that comes after implanting a stable, well-balanced joint that can allow a person to walk without pain.”
Dr. Tipton specializes in orthopedics. He focuses on fractures and injuries, arthritis, synovitis, bursitis, necrosis, bone defects and joint replacement surgeries.
He received an undergraduate degree in biomedical engineering at California Polytechnic State University, which helped him discover his ongoing passion for orthopedic surgery. Dr. Tipton received his medical degree at the University of California at Irvine. He completed residency at Wake Forest University and a fellowship in joint reconstruction at Emory University.
Dr. Tipton’s research interests include hip and knee replacement surgery. He was recognized for the Resident Research Day Best Clinical Project, and received the Frank E. Pollock Academic Excellence Award and the Walton W. Curl Academic and Surgical Excellence Award, all from the orthopedic faculty at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center.
He enjoys spending time with his wife and 3 daughters. They love traveling, hiking and swimming. Dr. Tipton is active in his church, participates in triathlons and likes to lift weights.
