Biography

“I do my job because I value the personal interactions based on trust and collaboration that come with caring for children and their families. I find it rewarding to support lifelong health, starting at birth. I also enjoy teaching residents and helping shape the next generation of pediatricians.”

Dr. Shayla Salgado is board certified in general pediatrics. She is skilled in the routine care of newborns through adolescents as well as sick visits. Her clinical interests include care of neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) graduates while she is similarly skilled in the management of asthma, acne, and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).

Dr. Salgado values the preventive aspects of pediatrics, including providing guidance and administering vaccines, which play a vital role in supporting lifelong health.

She has been recognized with an Early Career Impact in Primary Care Award from the Michigan Medicine Department of Pediatrics and a Joint Service Commendation Medal from the United States Navy.

Dr. Salgado received her medical degree at the University of Florida College of Medicine and completed her internship and residency in pediatrics at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center.
