Biography
Lifting up children and families to reach their greatest potential is the language of my heart.
From a young age, I spent time at a children’s hospital while my younger brother was being treated for leukemia. I knew early on that I would take care of children in some capacity. I feel honored to be invited into a family’s life and watch their children grow up, learning together how to help support their child’s social-emotional development, nourish their bodies through healthy habits and navigate difficult diagnoses and stressors with compassion.

I’m board certified in pediatrics and skilled in nutrition, childhood obesity, adverse childhood experiences and toxic stress, early brain development, educational achievement, social determinants of health, community pediatrics and advocacy.
I’m an assistant professor at Atrium Health Levine Children’s Hospital Medical Group, co-chair of the Pediatric BMI Committee and a physician champion at Carolinas Medical Legal Partnership. I also serve as a board member of Smart Start of Mecklenburg County and Communities in Schools Charlotte, an advisory board member of Healthy Weight Healthy Child Coalition and a former board member of the Mecklenburg County Medical Society.
I’m involved in research with the Carolinas Collaborative, a Duke Endowment-funded collaborative through the American Academy of Pediatrics. The collaborative connects all the pediatric residency programs across North and South Carolina to focus on community health and advocacy, both in training residents and faculty, as well as working on programs around toxic stress and food insecurity.
I received my medical degree at the University of Michigan and a master’s degree in public health at Harvard University.
Family is everything to me. My husband and I have two beautiful children, a daughter and a son, who inspire us every day. I love baking, cooking vegetarian dishes, dreaming up new recipes and hacking old recipes to make them healthier. Our family loves traveling, hiking, exploring nature and dancing, even in the middle of our living room in our pajamas.
