Biography
“I believe every person deserves to be treated with compassion, honesty and dignity, especially in the hardest moments of life. My goal is to ease suffering wherever I can, walk alongside patients and families, bring integrity and offer care that supports the whole person, not just the illness.”
Dr. Spencer Strobel is board certified in internal medicine and hospice and palliative care medicine. He focuses on oncology palliative care (symptom relief). He treats cancer-related pain, chemotherapy-induced neuropathy, anorexia-cachexia syndrome, malignant fatigue, nausea and vomiting, dyspnea, opioid-induced constipation, chemotherapy-induced diarrhea, mucositis and delirium.
Early in his training, he felt frustrated when he couldn't relieve his patients’ pain or symptoms. Palliative care equipped him with the tools to bring comfort, clarity and support to patients while
building trust and focusing on the whole patient's life. He feels a deep connection to people facing cancer, and he draws strength and inspiration from them.
He is active in palliative care research.
Dr. Strobel received a bachelor’s degree at Brigham Young University, a master’s degree in medical science at Boston University and his medical degree at Jagiellonian University Medical College in Krakow, Poland. He completed residency in internal medicine at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center and a fellowship in hospice and palliative care at Geisinger Medical Center.
Outside of work, he loves spending time with his wife and 3 children. They enjoy being outdoors, going on walks and exploring new places together. Dr. Strobel is an avid reader of history and classic fiction. He likes trying new foods, whether at home or traveling. He’s also a sports fan who watches and plays basketball and soccer when he can.
