Biography

“Child abuse pediatrics is a challenging field to work in, but I value my job in promoting child abuse prevention, providing education to increase the recognition and assessment of child maltreatment, and providing compassionate and comprehensive care to the children I evaluate in order to promote their overall health and well-being.”

Dr. Stephanie MacPherson is board certified in pediatrics and child abuse pediatrics. Her focus is on evaluating children with signs of possible maltreatment.

She is a clinical assistant professor for the Atrium Health Levine Children's Child Protection Team.

Dr. MacPherson dreamed of becoming a doctor as a child and chose pediatrics because she loves working with children and their families. She enjoys the multidisciplinary aspect of her subspeciality field in collaborating with members of other teams.

Dr. MacPherson received her medical degree at East Carolina University. She completed residency in pediatrics and a fellowship in child abuse pediatrics at Duke University.

Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her family, reading, doing various home improvement projects and exploring new restaurants.
