Biography

“God has blessed my life in so many ways, and the Bible says, ‘Each of you should use whatever gifts you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace.’ I hope I am using my gifts to make a difference in the lives of the children I care for.”

Dr. O'Brien is board certified in general pediatrics. He has a particular interest in nutrition, fitness, weight management and sports medicine.

He serves as the medical director for Atrium Health Levine Children’s Cabarrus Pediatrics and is the past chair of the Department of Pediatrics.

He speaks basic Spanish and volunteers as a doctor and medical advisor to La Aljaba Children's Home, an orphanage in Colombia, South America. He serves on the board of DreamOn3, an organization that grants sports-related wishes to children with chronic medical and development issues.

As a pediatrician, Dr. O’Brien feels he gets to coach, teach and encourage children every day. He enjoys investing his time and energy at work into things that matter, and the well-being of kids is of great value to him.
