Sunny Chandrakant Patel, DO

I have found that integrating mental health treatment using a holistic approach with psychiatric services, therapeutic services and even school intervention has shown the best chances for success into adulthood.”

Dr. Sunny Patel is board certified in psychiatry. He treats children and adolescents. His clinical interests include depression, anxiety, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), obsessive-compulsive disorder, oppositional defiant disorder and disruptive mood dysregulation disorder.

He chose psychiatry because he was interested in the philosophical approach to treating patients, rather than just treating a collection of symptoms. He quickly became curious to learn how mental health impacts various areas of patients’ lives, and it was obvious to him how untreated mental health also affects a person’s physical health.

Dr. Patel received his degree in osteopathic medicine at Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed residency in psychiatry and a fellowship in child and adolescent psychiatry at the University of South Carolina.

Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his wife, kids and goldendoodle. They love hiking, being outdoors and going to the beach. He loves seeking out new experiences and trying new restaurants, especially authentic tacos, sushi, Neapolitan pizza and Thai food. To decompress, he enjoys going to the gym or watching TV shows and movies.
