“Working in palliative care allows me to focus on improving someone's quality of life so they can enjoy as many moments as possible. I enjoy getting to know patients and their families. They have taught me so much over the years, even how to be a better human being.”
Brown is a board-certified nurse practitioner and advanced certified hospice and palliative nurse. She focuses on pediatrics and hospital and palliative medicine.
Working in pediatric oncology and in the pediatric intensive care unit taught her that sometimes the best medicine is helping someone feel better in whatever way possible – by giving a hug, getting outdoors, administering pain medicine or just being present.
She has been awarded the Nurse Practitioner of the Year from Rhode Island Monthly magazine and the Brite Lite Award from Hasbro Children's Hospital.
Brown received her master’s degree in nursing and her Doctor of Nursing Practice at Northeastern University.
When she’s not working, Brown enjoys outdoor activities such as running and hiking. She also loves spending time with her 2 energetic dogs.
