Tara Blalock Burgher, DO

I grew up in a relatively rural county, so I understand the difficulties faced by citizens of these areas regarding healthcare. Missing a day of work to go to a well-check or review medications can be difficult to do, and I’m determined to make it easier. I’m happy to provide needed virtual care in certain situations.

I’m board certified in family medicine and specialize in rural health, women and children’s health and obstetrics. Rural health is my passion, and I provide remote care to reach more people who may not be able to access care in an office. I’m the former medical director of Ashe Women and Children’s Clinic.

I received my medical degree at Des Moines University, and my Doctor of Audiology at the University of Louisville. I completed residency at Mercer Medical Center and a fellowship at Wayne County Hospital.

While in medical school, I received the American Osteopathic Associations Nichols LEAD Scholar Award.

When I’m not working, I enjoy spending time with my two children. We like playing with and caring for our four dogs and chickens. We also enjoy loving our rabbits. My family loves to swim and go to amusement parks. Dollywood theme park is my favorite!
