Biography

“I grew up in a relatively rural county, so I understand the difficulties faced by citizens of these areas regarding health care. Missing a day of work to go to a well-check or review medications can be difficult to do, and I’m determined to make it easier. I’m happy to provide needed virtual care in certain situations.”

Dr. Tara Burgher is board certified in family medicine and specializes in rural health, women and children’s health and obstetrics. Rural health is her passion, and she provides remote care to reach more people who may not be able to access care in an office. She is the former medical director of Ashe Women and Children’s Clinic.

She received her medical degree from Des Moines University, and her Doctor of Audiology from the University of Louisville. She completed residency at Mercer Medical Center and a fellowship at Wayne County Hospital.

While in medical school, she received the American Osteopathic Associations Nichols LEAD Scholar Award.

When she isn’t working, Dr. Burgher enjoys spending time with her 2 children. They like playing with and caring for their 4 dogs and chickens. They also enjoy loving their rabbits. Her family loves to swim and go to amusement parks. Dollywood theme park is her favorite!
