Biography

“I’ve always been fascinated by how the body, and especially the heart, works. Optimizing cardiovascular health via daily exercise and an appropriate diet is essential to improving overall health and well-being.”

Dr. Frank is board certified in advanced heart failure and transplantation. He specializes in heart failure, left ventricular assist devices (LVADs), heart transplantation and pulmonary hypertension. He serves as medical director of both the Cardiac Transplant and Pulmonary Hypertension Programs at Atrium Health.

He’s been recognized as a Charlotte magazine Top Doctor for multiple years and has extensive experience in complex conditions and treatments.

The son of a cardiologist, Dr. Frank grew up watching his father care for patients. He was fascinated by the heart’s complex physiology and inspired by the rewarding relationships that his father had with patients. This inspired Dr. Frank to pursue a similar path in his own medical career.

He received his medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania and completed residency at Yale University. Dr. Frank completed a general cardiology fellowship at Yale University and a cardiac transplantation fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania.

Outside of work, Dr. Frank loves spending time with his wife and 3 children. He is an avid long-distance runner, and he’s completed well over 40 marathons or ultramarathons, including a marathon daily for 5 consecutive days to help raise money for heart failure and transplant patients in need.
