Biography

“My goal is to improve access to behavioral health services for everyone in our community while providing excellent care to individuals. For many people, their first interaction with behavioral health services occurs in an emergency setting, so I strive to ensure patients receive the best possible immediate care they need, along with helpful referrals to follow-up services when necessary. I want my patients to know I care.”

Thomas Christy is a board-certified physician assistant who specializes in behavioral health with a focus on emergency care and telehealth services. He also has a clinical interest in addressing social determinants of health.

As a former paramedic, he discovered his passion for mental health care while treating patients who struggled with substance use and other crises. His clinical rotations during his training strengthened his desire to focus on behavioral health.

Christy received his master’s degree in physician assistant studies at Pfeiffer University. He completed an Atrium Health Advanced Practice Provider (APP) Behavioral Health Fellowship and is a Pi Alpha Honor Society inductee.

Outside of work, he loves spending time with his wife and son. Christy enjoys backpacking with friends, playing tennis and volunteering with his church.
