Victoria Alec Polo, MD

Dr. Victoria Polo specializes in obstetrics and gynecology (OB/GYN). Her clinical interests include preventive care, contraception for patients with complex medical conditions, miscarriage management, obstetric and postpartum care and minimally invasive gynecologic surgery.

Early on, Dr. Polo knew she had passions for both surgery and women's health, and OB/GYN allowed her to merge those interests while developing long-term, meaningful relationships with patients. Her goal as a doctor is to utilize evidence-based medicine to counsel and advocate for her patients effectively.

Dr. Polo is a member of the Gold Humanism Honor Society and is certified in robotic-assisted and laparoscopic surgery. She served as a junior fellow section chair for The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) and as a legislative chair during ACOG’s Congressional Leadership Conference.

She won numerous awards during her residency from the Ochsner Clinic Foundation, including the 2023 Alton Ochsner Resident Leadership Award, the Ryan Program Award for Excellence in Family Planning, the award for Outstanding Resident in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility, the award for Best Exemplified Care to Patients in the Obstetric Emergency Department and the Outstanding Resident Teaching Award.

Dr. Polo received her undergraduate degree in neuroscience at Duke University and her medical degree at Mercer University. She completed residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the Ochsner Clinic Foundation, where she was chief resident.

Her prior research focused on quality improvement with a particular interest in improving patient outcomes and processes in obstetrics.

Away from work, Dr. Polo enjoys spending time exploring her neighborhood with her husband and their dog. They love trying new restaurants, spending time with family and friends, working out, traveling and watching college football and basketball.
