Biography

I chose to practice medicine because it gives me a way to bring together two passions: science and human connection. I was first trained in electrical engineering, and I loved the problem-solving and systems thinking. Over time, I felt called to work more directly with people. Family medicine became the right fit because it allows me to care for patients at every stage of life while building lasting relationships based on trust, continuity and respect.

I’m motivated each day by seeing growth. That may mean helping a patient feel truly heard and supported, or watching a resident doctor grow into a thoughtful, compassionate physician. I also enjoy building environments where people feel encouraged, challenged and inspired to care for others well. In both patient care and medical education, I hope to make a lasting difference by helping people feel seen, respected and empowered.

My approach to care is relationship-centered and focused on the whole person. I believe the best care is evidence-based, personal and developed through shared decision-making. When you come to see me, you can expect a thoughtful visit where I take time to understand your health concerns, your goals and the life experiences that shape your care.

I am board certified in family medicine. I enjoy caring for individuals and families over time and helping patients make informed choices that support both short-term health needs and long-term wellness.

My clinical interests include:

  • Preventive care and lifestyle medicine
  • Behavioral health integration
  • Pediatrics and adolescent care
  • Whole-person, relationship-centered care
  • Medical education and resident development

I speak English and Tamil.

In addition to patient care, I’ve had the privilege of serving in several leadership and teaching roles throughout my career. I am the program director for the Atrium Health Family Medicine Residency Program at Carolinas Medical Center and previously served as the founding residency program director at LewisGale Medical Center in Roanoke. I have also held faculty leadership roles in curriculum development and other areas in medical education.

I remain actively involved in competency-based medical education and have contributed to national family medicine workshops and educational initiatives. Teaching and mentoring future physicians are especially meaningful aspects of my work.

Outside of medicine, I enjoy running, reading and cooking. I value spending time with my family and staying involved in community-centered activities that support wellness, mentorship and connection.

I look forward to partnering with you in your care.
