Dr. Chen is board certified in psychiatry and neurology. He was drawn to medicine by an intellectual curiosity about the human mind and behaviors. He is assistant professor of psychiatry at Atrium Health.
He specializes in the psychopharmacological treatment of mental disorders. He has conducted research on the molecular biophysics of neurotransmitter transporters and the use of Ketamine in treatment-resistant depression.
He received his medical degree from Sichuan University and a PhD from The University of Texas. He completed his residency at the Medical College of Virginia and a fellowship at Albert Einstein College of Medicine.
Dr. Chen has 2 children and can be found most days tending to his yard and enjoying the outdoors. He is a firm believer in physical activity every day.
