Dr. Fan is board certified in neurology and epilepsy. He specializes in optimizing care for patients with primary or secondary seizures, refractory epilepsy, invasive intracranial recording for localizing epileptogenic foci, continuous video-electroencephalography (cvEEG) monitoring and quantitative analysis in a critical care setting.

He is an adjunct associate professor of neurology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He was an assistant professor of neurology at Washington University in St. Louis before joining Atrium Health. He is fluent in Mandarin and Cantonese.

Dr. Fan is fascinated by the complexity of the nervous system and how neurological disorders affect the mind and body. He conducted neuroscience research with world-class neuroscientists during his PhD study and post-doctoral fellowship and received clinical training at top institutions for neurology and epilepsy education.
