Biography
“Through medicine and cardiology, I strive to increase awareness of better health practices, give patients the tools to cope with chronic illnesses and empower people to improve their quality of life. Helping vulnerable patients and teaching learners across disciplines gives me joy and fulfillment. I am committed to humanitarianism, science, lifelong learning, growth and improvement.”
Dr. Zariyat Mannan is board certified in internal medicine, cardiology and cardiovascular imaging. She specializes in cardiovascular magnetic resonance, cardiovascular computed tomography, nuclear cardiology and echocardiography.
She is fascinated by the complex and dynamic physiology of the cardiovascular system, its pathologies and the various diagnostic and therapeutic approaches to the prevention and management of cardiovascular disease.
Her awards include a Cleveland Clinic Humanism and Excellence in Teaching Award (HETA), the University of Kentucky Teresa Hignite Award for positive impact in the workplace and several Special Thanks and Recognition (STAR) Awards for Respect and Teamwork in Patient Care. She is also a member of the Gold Humanism Honor Society.
Dr. Mannan received her bachelor’s degree at McGill University and her medical degree at St. George's University in Grenada, West Indies. She completed residency in internal medicine at the Cleveland Clinic, followed by a fellowship in cardiovascular medicine at the University of Kentucky and an advanced fellowship in multimodality cardiovascular imaging at Brigham and Women's Hospital.
Away from work, she enjoys spending quality time with her family, continuing her vocal training, traveling, outdoor activities with her dog, reading, cooking and entertaining and live music.
