Improving the Delivery of Acute Stroke Care
Our cerebrovascular research program aims to leverage our vast stroke network, high stroke volumes and extensive stroke database to answer important questions related to the management of acute stroke patients – especially across networks of hospitals.
Through our research, we’re developing efficient systems of care and optimizing the use of advanced neuroimaging, allowing us to treat patients more rapidly and to select patients for treatment more effectively, both of which are associated with improved overall outcomes.
Specific research areas of focus include:
- Optimizing screening for patients with large vessel occlusion ischemic strokes
- The role of CT perfusion and other advanced imaging in acute stroke management
- Managing acute stroke patients being treated concomitantly with oral anticoagulants
