Darla Morton is a researcher in simulation-based education at Atrium Health. Her current research interests are improving simulation-based education (SBE) in the areas of learner engagement and communication, pairing styles of SBE with educational objectives, and professional skills performance, ultimately to improve patient safety and quality of care. Her postgraduate research focused on the human oral microbiome, including disruptions to the microbial system during chronic diseases; stress-immunology and susceptibility to infection; and analysis of cytokine communication within the process of degenerative disc disease.
