Janice Walker, DHA, MBA-HCM, BSN, RN, NEA-BC

Senior Vice President, Chief Nursing Officer, Advocate Health – Southeast Region

Janice Walker joined Advocate Health in 2024 as Senior Vice President and Chief Nursing Officer – Southeast Region of Advocate Health. She is responsible for providing strategic leadership for all nursing and other designated patient care functions and services for Atrium Health, which comprises the entirety of Advocate Health’s Southeast Region. Janice leads more than 18,000 nurses at Atrium Health’s 40 hospitals and hundreds of care locations throughout North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia and Alabama.

She has 25 years of experience in health care with progressive leadership roles as a Chief Nursing Officer and a Chief Operating Officer in for-profit and not-for-profit health care entities. Her previous experience includes more than 13 years at Baylor Scott & White Health (BSW), where she oversaw nursing, pharmacy, lab, radiology and Joint Commission/CMS accreditation/certification.

A Johnson & Johnson Wharton Fellow, Janice holds a doctorate degree in Health Care Administration with an emphasis on studying successful female leadership traits of executive health care leaders. Janice is a national speaker on topics such as transformational nursing leadership traits, service bundle care to increase patient satisfaction and driving quality through accreditation programs to promote care of at-risk population patients. Janice’s work has been published on driving to zero patient harm, tactics for strong candidate-centric nursing recruitment and retention, workplace violence, interdisciplinary team dialogue, driving service scores through such programs as open visitation, hard-wiring service and patient advocacy service councils.
