Modern Healthcare names Carolinas HealthCare System’s President and CEO in the top 20 of healthcare’s leading voices

CHARLOTTE, N.C., August 23, 2017 – Carolinas HealthCare System President and CEO, Gene Woods, was just honored as one of Modern Healthcare’s 100 Most Influential People in Healthcare, being named in the top 20 of the field’s most senior-level executives, high-level government administrators, elected officials, academics and thought-leaders.

The 100 Most Influential People in Healthcare awards & recognition program honors individuals in healthcare who are deemed by their peers and the senior editors of Modern Healthcare to be the most influential individuals in the industry, in terms of leadership and impact. Gene was ranked 19th this year and 67th in 2016.

The Carolinas were well represented on Modern Healthcare’s list as leaders of five organizations were recognized, including Susan DeVore, President and CEO of Premier (60); Dr. A. Eugene Washington, President and CEO of Duke University Health System (74); Dr. William Roper, CEO of UNC Heath Care (86); and Michael Riordan, CEO of Greenville Health System (97).
