Atrium Health's Carolinas MED-1 Prepares for Deployment to Atlanta

01.14.2019 Atrium Health News

CHARLOTTE, N.C., January 14, 2019 – Atrium Health’s Carolinas MED-1 is once again preparing for deployment. The mobile emergency department will leave on Tuesday, January 15, headed to Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia. The team will deploy the mobile hospital to Georgia, which is one of the hardest hit states in the country with high flu activity. Also, this one-of-a-kind emergency department on wheels will be in place as the area prepares for hundreds of thousands of people to convene in Atlanta for the Super Bowl in less than a month.

A complete mobile hospital on wheels, Carolinas MED-1 is capable of deploying within 24-hours, fully staffed with medical supplies and physicians, nurses, medical technicians and support staff to provide the same level of quality care expected at any of our Atrium Health hospital locations. Equipment includes digital x-ray, ultrasound, lab, pharmacy, 14 acute care beds, a two-bed operating room and much more that is typically seen in an emergency department.
