Atrium Health Levine Children’s Hospital Named a “Best Children’s Hospital” for 14th Consecutive Year
Levine Children’s Hospital Ranked Among Top 50 in Eight Pediatric Specialties
CHARLOTTE, N.C., June 15, 2021 – For the 14th consecutive year, Atrium Health Levine Children’s Hospital has been recognized as one of U.S. News & World Report’s best places to care for children. This year, the hospital is ranked among the top 50 in the country in eight pediatric specialties and remains the only children’s hospital in Charlotte to be given this prominent distinction.
“It’s incredible to think that although Levine Children’s Hospital only opened its doors to our community nearly 14 years ago, no other children’s hospital in the region has accomplished nearly as much as we have in such a short period of time,” said Eugene A. Woods, president and CEO of Atrium Health. “This recognition is a true testament to the mountains moved and milestones reached by our amazing and hardworking teammates. Every day, they are not only providing world-class care to our smallest of patients and their families, but doing so with a warm and special touch – and that is what sets Atrium Health apart from all the rest.”
U.S. News & World Report’s Best Children’s Hospitals rankings are considered the most comprehensive source of quality-related information on U.S. pediatric hospitals. Rankings are determined based on key clinical data from nearly 200 medical centers, through a detailed survey that looks at measures such as reputation, patient and family satisfaction, patient safety and outcomes, infection prevention and compliance with best practices.
The eight specialties that Levine Children’s Hospital received a top 50 ranking in are:
- Cancer
- Cardiology & Heart Surgery
- Gastroenterology & GI Surgery
- Neonatology
- Nephrology
- Neurology & Neurosurgery
- Orthopedics
- Pulmonology & Lung Surgery
“To be nationally recognized as one of the top children’s hospitals providing the best medical care is a tribute to our dedicated team of doctors, nurses and specialists who go above and beyond for our patients and their families each and every day,” said Dr. Stacy Nicholson, president of Atrium Health Levine Children’s. “As Levine Children’s continues to grow with new, innovative technologies and therapies and achieve medical milestones, we will continue to improve health, elevate hope and advance healing for more families and remain committed to providing the best care to each child that walks through our hospital doors.”
Since opening its doors in 2007, Levine Children’s Hospital specialty care teams have fulfilled its commitment to providing the highest quality care, in the most compassionate way, to more than 130,000 patients across 48 states and more than a dozen foreign countries. With a shared vision to expand and improve care available to patients, Levine Children’s Hospital has been recognized for outstanding clinical care and milestones, including:

“Each year we focus on measurable ways to close gaps and improve the value we bring to our patients and their families,” said Callie Dobbins, facility executive of Levine Children’s Hospital, the ambulatory and medical group vice president at Levine Children’s and a registered nurse. “This past year is no exception, despite the challenges the COVID-19 pandemic brought to our patients and care teams. Through dedication and resiliency, we achieved incredible medical milestones and clinical achievements, providing families peace of mind their children are in the best hands, receiving the best care at Levine Children’s.”
In addition to more than 30 specialty clinical programs, the families cared for by Atrium Health Levine Children’s have access to an entire network of children’s services, including the area’s only Level I pediatric trauma center in the region.
