Frequently asked questions

It is a doctor’s office on wheels – a bus upfitted as a self-contained space to provide medical care. Atrium Health’s Care Everywhere mobile medicine unit brings clinical care to areas where traditional clinics may not be as convenient or accessible.

The Care Everywhere mobile medicine unit operates just like any other Atrium Health physician clinic. There will be charges for services, and bills will be created because of our services. If you are uninsured/underinsured, the team will work with you to get you qualified for appropriate insurance or Atrium’s Financial Assistance Program. Each situation is evaluated on a case-by-case basis. We believe that many of our community members in the areas we serve will qualify for Atrium’s Financial Assistance Program.

Our hours are 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Details can be found at top of current page.

Currently, patients are seen on a first-come, first-served basis. An appointment or preregistration isn’t necessary.

Atrium Health’s goal for Care Everywhere is to see as many community members as possible and connect them to a bricks-and-mortar primary care home. However, anyone age 2 and up can be seen; no patient will be turned away if they were previously seen on the unit.

The mobile medicine units will provide primary care services but are not intended to be a primary care home. The Care Everywhere team works to help patients find a more permanent primary care home for ongoing needs, and mobile medicine units serve as a convenient access point thereafter as needed.

Care Everywhere offers convenient services for those age 2 and up including:

  • Preventive care, physicals and well-child checks
  • Chronic disease prevention and management
  • Treatment of minor injuries
  • Preventive screenings for cancer and heart disease
  • Pregnancy and sexually transmitted disease testing

The Care Everywhere team will help patients address common barriers to reaching good health, including assistance with food, housing and transportation needs and extra time for patient education. The team also will help patients navigate Atrium Health resources that manage their ability to pay for services.

Each unit is staffed by a family nurse practitioner, certified medical assistant and a driver.

If you have an existing primary care doctor, you still can be seen on the Atrium Health Care Everywhere mobile medicine unit.

Our goal is to return to selected sites on a weekly basis. Details can be found at top of current page.

The Atrium Health mobile medicine units do not serve special events.

The sites have been predetermined. We used information gathered from multiple sources to decide where to locate clinics. As we expand to additional locations, we will continue to use this approach.
